3-Day Eastern & Western Al Hajar Mountains Tour

Tour overview

See the essential highlights of eastern and western Oman over three carefully planned days. Travel along the coast to Bimmah Sinkhole, Wadi Shab or Wadi Tiwi, and Sur before crossing the dunes to a desert camp in Wahiba Sands. Visit Wadi Bani Khalid, continue to Nizwa for an overnight stay, then explore Nizwa Souq and Fort, Misfat Al Abreen, Bahla Fort, and Jibreen Castle before returning to Muscat.

Itinerary

1. 1
   Day 1 - Muscat, Bimmah Sinkhole, Wadi Shab or Wadi Tiwi, Sur and Wahiba Sands | Desert Camp Follow the coastal highway to Bimmah Sinkhole, then continue to Wadi Shab for a boat crossing, canyon trek, and swimming toward the waterfall cave; Wadi Tiwi is available as a sightseeing alternative. Visit Sur's fishing port, dhow shipyard, lighthouse, and old coastal area before crossing to Wahiba Sands for sunset, dinner, and an overnight desert stay.

   Day 2 - Wahiba Sands and Wadi Bani Khalid | Nizwa After breakfast, leave the desert and drive around 50 minutes to Wadi Bani Khalid. Relax and swim in its clear mountain pools, then continue approximately three hours toward Nizwa, including a traditional lunch stop. Check into a hotel or heritage inn in Nizwa.

   Day 3 - Nizwa, Misfat Al Abreen, Bahla and Jibreen | Muscat Explore Nizwa Souq and Fort, then travel to Misfat Al Abreen for a walk through its centuries-old homes, plantations, and falaj channels. Stop at UNESCO-listed Bahla Fort and visit the 17th-century Jibreen Castle with an audio guide before returning to Muscat.
