4-Day Eastern & Western Al Hajar Mountains Tour

Tour overview

Explore the finest landscapes and heritage of eastern and western Oman in four days. Visit Bimmah Sinkhole, Wadi Shab or Wadi Tiwi, and Sur before spending a night among the dunes of Wahiba Sands. Continue through Wadi Bani Khalid to Nizwa, then discover Jibreen Castle, Bahla Fort, Jabal Shams, Misfat Al Abreen, Nizwa Souq and Fort, Birkat Al Mouz, and Jabal Akhdar before returning to Muscat.

Itinerary

1. 1
   Day 1 - Muscat, Bimmah Sinkhole, Wadi Shab or Wadi Tiwi, Sur and Wahiba Sands | Desert Camp Travel along the coast to Bimmah Sinkhole, then explore Wadi Shab by boat, trail, and swimming; Wadi Tiwi is available as a sightseeing alternative. Continue to Sur's fishing port, dhow shipyard, lighthouse, and old town before driving to Wahiba Sands for sunset, dinner, and an overnight desert stay.

   Day 2 - Wahiba Sands and Wadi Bani Khalid | Nizwa After breakfast, leave the desert for Wadi Bani Khalid and enjoy the clear pools of this mountain oasis. Continue approximately three hours toward Nizwa, including a traditional lunch stop, and check into a hotel or heritage inn.

   Day 3 - Jibreen Castle, Bahla, Jabal Shams and Misfat Al Abreen | Nizwa Visit the 17th-century Jibreen Castle with an audio guide and stop at UNESCO-listed Bahla Fort. Ascend Jabal Shams past the village of Ghul for spectacular Omani Grand Canyon views. After lunch near Al Hamra, explore Misfat Al Abreen's ancient homes, plantations, and falaj channels before returning to Nizwa.

   Day 4 - Nizwa, Birkat Al Mouz and Jabal Akhdar | Muscat Discover Nizwa Souq and Fort, then visit Birkat Al Mouz to see the old settlement, oasis, and falaj system. Ascend Jabal Akhdar for terrace views, traditional villages, plantations, and the Wadi Bani Habib walk. Return to Muscat in the afternoon.
